The Murtoa Stick Shed is a National Heritage Listed classified agricultural building in the Wimmera, Victoria. Built in 1942 to store grain harvested from the surrounding region, it was constructed using tree trunks as the primary structural support system. The internal space appears like a cathedral with soaring ceilings, grid of columns and light filtering through small skylights similar to stained glass windows.
Recent works for our clients involved carefully repairing and replacing dilapidated structural supports and connections to ensure the structure will endure for future generations. Plico Design Studio assisted the builders Barpa Construction Services and the engineers Quatrefoil consulting to identify the sequence of works amongst the forest of columns.
