Belmont is an early twentieth century country house in Buln Buln Gippsland, built 1901-1903 for the well known Ballantyne and Count Von Horn families. Our project involved extensive restoration to the original house. The house was dilapidated so this restoration was substantial with sympathetic upgrades to the living conditions to balance history and 21st century living.
It was very exciting to see how all the parts of this project came together. The old meets the new, meets the old, meets the new – to enhance the qualities from the original. In order to both maintain its authenticity as well as prioritising sustainability, we salvaged building materials for reuse and repurposed these in the proposed works.
