We are pleased to present Plico Design Studio’s conception for Buildner’s Architects Chair 2 competition.Exploring Artificial-Intelligence imagery, this chair represents a human team embracing the open-ended nature of Artificial Intelligence in this current moment in history, exploring the capacity for inspiration and technological advancement.The construction process of this chair is intended to involve 3D printing using biodegradable PLA filament and synthetic mesh manufactured using recycled plastic. Could this help our efforts to contribute to the “circular economy”? Our team aimed for a piece of furniture that would capture attention, with an ethereal and organic object that could inhabit in an exhibition room. Many might be confused by the ambiguous nature of its forms. Others might put two chairs together mirroring each other: does this promote feelings of company, connection or separation and loneliness?The result is meant to be puzzling in shape and utility – Is the NEXT. Chair a manifestation of this moment in time?
